The Redwood City Mothers Club is
a growing family of mothers of
infants and young children who live
in Redwood City and surrounding
communities.

Our members enjoy a range of fun
activities for both mothers, children,
and their families.

on the left to learn more about us.

Playgroups

When the club took its yearly survey, playgroups were cited as one of the main reasons people join the Redwood City Mothers Club.  People are looking for opportunities to meet people in their community and to help their children make friends.  Play groups come in several different forms depending upon the members’ desires and needs.  For example, some meet at community parks where as others meet in member homes.  Some play groups are organized by children's age while others are open to all comers. Playgroups meet most days of the week, and an up to date list can be viewed in the members only section of the website.  If there isn’t one that meets your needs, a member can contact the playgroup coordinators at for help in organizing a new one. Playgroups are a favorite activity of our members and give kids time to play and mothers time to meet and talk - when not on the run!

General Meetings

General Meetings are held monthly on a weeknight usually 10 months a year. The meetings give a forum for socializing with other members, to conduct a bit of club business, and to enjoy a parenting/kid related speaker topic. Our meetings provide an entertaining and informative evening. Past speakers have included experts in early education, child safety, traveling with children and health, CPR classes, and Positive Discipline.

Parties & Socials

Four or five large parties are hosted by the club every year, and they have included the Gymnastics Party, Summer Party, Halloween Party, Family Dance Party, and Holiday Party.  These functions are favorite activities for club members and are a good chance to see everybody in one place. The kids really enjoy our seasonal holiday parties, which sometimes include some very special guests. Crafts, games, and refreshments always help to round out the fun!

Club members also enjoy socials from time to time as a way for members and our children to get to know one another in smaller groups.  These events have included Neighborhood Gatherings, Ice Cream Socials or Snacks in the Park.  Additionally, the club Neighborhood Connections group plans socials for seasoned and new members to gather in an adult only setting.

Children's Excursions

Children's Excursions are regular opportunities to explore new things with our children and other members. Fire station tours, train trips, hikes, picnics, and farm visits are a few of the fun excursions we've enjoyed.

Mom's Nights Out and Game Night

Mom’s Night Out and Game Night are a life saver. Club members organize opportunities for mom’s to get together once a month either at a local restaurant or at a member’s home to have a meal or play games.  This is a fantastic forum in which to get to know members in a smaller setting without being distracted by the kids.

Meals Program

The Meals Program provides meals to "new" mothers or families who are otherwise in need of care. An coordinator communicates with the people who request meals, and volunteers prepare and deliver the meals to the families.  It is a meaningful way to be involved with the community and to support one another.

Fund Raising and Community Involvement

The club works to raise funds which help bridge the gap between expenses and club needs.  The Garage Sale has been an annual fund raiser and is a chance to clean out the garage. Additionally, the club has hosted craft fairs, the Preschool Preview Night and bake sales as a means of raising funds. Any fund raising proceeds which are unused at the end of the year are donated to the local community.  In the past, the club has supported the following but not limited to:  the Library Friends, The Redwood City Education Foundation, The Shelter Network, The Hope Foundation, and Second Harvest.

Scrapbook Night

Members volunteer to organize opportunities to hang out and work on scrapbooking albums with other moms in the group. It's great to get together and get ideas on how to get organized, make our albums look great, and learn a lot about each other. There have been many chats about sleep issues, our children in school, husbands, nursing, etc. It's a lot of fun, and all enjoy the time to get to know the fellow moms of the club.  If you are a beginner or an old pro, all are welcomed!

On-line Community

The Redwood City Mother's Club (RWCMC) has an on-line community of moms who work together to help each other in many different areas of life. Our work ranges from playgroups to answering questions online through our online yahoo groups. We have two yahoo groups for our moms. The first is for advice and public notices as well as posting moms club events. The second online group is the Redwood City Mother's Club Market place which is an online garage sale of sorts for all of the RWCMC members. Information regarding how to join these groups will be sent upon completing the club application process.

The Book Club

The Book Club meets monthly to discuss books. Selections vary according to the interests of the group. Children are welcome at the meetings.

Preschool Preview Night and Preschool Resource Center

The club works with the city of Redwood City to host an annual Preschool Preview Night which features a speaker on education.  This fund raising opportunity is a fantastic place for parents to review local preschools and gather information about early childhood education in Redwood City.

Additionally, the club has a Preschool Resource Center for members only which provides a means of searching the preschool database based on selected criteria such as types of programs, age, location etc.  The resource has been very helpful to members in narrowing down choices.  Once a year in the late summer, the club receives available opening information from schools and posts them on the Preschool Resource Center page.

Business Resource Center

The club provides an opportunity for members to advertise their services to other members through the Business Resource Center which is an online section of the website for members only.  Club members can post their business information and provide special incentives for other club members to patronize these businesses.

Mid-Life Mom's Group

The club has a sub group of members who are older mothers who have had their first children in their late thirties and forties.  This resource provides an additional Yahoo! Group for communicating the special needs of this demographic, and members organize playgroups and gatherings based upon their schedules.

Toy Coop

The Redwood City Mothers Club partners with the City of Redwood City to provide a drop in free-play area for club members.  The club members have donated toys and the city provides a closet for storage and a room to play.  Club volunteers keep the program running, and give kids and parents a great opportunity to meet new people and play with new toys.

Babysitting Coop

The club sponsors a sub-group of members who exchange babysitting for points.  The group hosts a weekly playgroup to get to know each other, and conducts six meetings a year to run the program.  This highly effective method of exchanging babysitting provides members with occasional babysitting during the days and evenings when paid babysitters might not be easily available.
